Private tour for people with limited mobility

This private tour of Tallinn is designed for travelers who prefer to move at a slower speed or have mobility restrictions. Both the tour guide and the driver are at your disposal for the entire tour.
We can accommodate wheelchair users who can stand up from the wheelchair or mobility scooter and climb into the vehicle. An extra step and grab handles make getting into the vehicle easier, please see the photo below. During the drive, the wheelchair (or mobility scooter) is placed in the trunk.
The vehicle used is our Mercedes minivan – perfect size for the narrow streets of the UNESCO-listed Old Town, whilst still being spacious.
The tour visits four neighborhoods of Tallinn: Kadriorg, Rotermanni, Toompea Hill and the Lower Old Town. In the middle of the tour, we have a coffee break at a historic building with a unique interior.

Activity level: Whilst the minivan is at your disposal for the entire time, the tour involves light walking/ wheeling between sites where vehicles have no access. The total walking distance is approx. 1.5 km/0.9 miles.
NB! The actual start time will be agreed with you and depends on your preferences, the cruise ship arrival time, etc. This is a sample schedule:
10:00 meet and greet at your hotel, ferry terminal or cruise port
10:10-11:30 Visit to Kadriorg neighborhood and Rotermanni Quarter.
The highlights at KADRIORG are the lovely park with a charming palace from early 18th century, flower garden and a pond, Kumu Art Museum, the Office of the President of Estonia.
A short drive away is ROTERMANNI: an urban environment where industrial buildings from 1800s are skillfully mixed with contemporary high-quality architecture. We´ll stroll (approx. 300 meters/ 1000 feet) through this car-free, modern heart of Tallinn, that has become one of the trendy areas frequented by locals.
11:40-12:10 coffee break (or light lunch) in an accessible building with eye-catching interior and interesting background.
Next, we head to the Old Town, which was divided into two separate districts for centuries: Toompea Hill and the lower city. You will learn about the difference between the two areas.
12:20-13:30 Visit the LOWER OLD TOWN.
First, a short panoramic drive allows you to experience the network of medieval streets and see one of Europe´s best preserved medieval city walls.
After that, wo explore the vicinity of the Town Hall Square that can only be visited on foot/ with a wheelchair. The walking distance is approx. 500 meters/ 0.3 miles. The colorful medieval merchants´ houses and blooming window boxes make for great photos, as we wander around at a leisurely pace.
The highlights on our walking route include the Church of the Holy Spirit, Börsi Passage (a lane where history is written on the pavement- literally), the Old Town Hall, the Town Hall Pharmacy from 1422 and Viru Gate.
Most streets on our carefully selected walking route have plain sidewalks, though there are some cobblestones and curbs. The route is navigable by wheelchair.
13:30-14:20 We drive to TOOMPEA HILL. You will see nearly 800 years old St Mary´s Cathedral (an optional inside visit, there is a staircase at the entrance) and Toompea Castle with the Tall Hermann Tower. You will have a stunning birds-eye-view over the city from the viewing point.
14:20-14:30 drive back to your hotel, cruise port, or ferry terminal, where the tour ends. Alternatively, we can take you back to the lower town for more exploration on your own. Let us know what works best for you.

– private transfer back to the ferry terminal/cruise port/hotel, if needed separately from the tour. The transfer is available upon request for an extra cost of 25 euros per minivan.
When requesting this tour of Tallinn, please let us know if there is a wheelchair/ mobility scooter user in your group. If so, please bear in mind the vehicle is not wheelchair accessible. The only way to enter our minivan is to stand up and step inside, with the help of an extra step.
